Thursday, September 11, 2014, Louisville Mayor Greg Fisher took time out of his busy schedule to encourage my students to “Close the Deal”. He challenged them to do some soul searching, to choose a career about which they are passionate, but  one that will allow them to life comfortably as well. Mayor Fisher reminded students to seek out internships, to travel abroad, to job shadow. He gave them practical advice about the job market in Louisville and encouraged them to help us meet the goal of 50,000 more college degrees in the city by 2020.  I was impressed, the students were overwhelmed, but overall it was a worthwhile use of two hours of our time. I am so thankful that we have counselors and administrators who continue to bring programs like this back to our seniors each year!
