NBCT Day on the Hill!

A little late in coming!  I attended the NBCT Day on the Hill on March 3 with an amazing cohort of Nationally Board Certified Teachers I am working with on problems of practice.  We attended the House Education Committee meeting, providing representation for teachers in the whole state on several bills that were up for passage into the House, and met with various legislators throughout the rest of that day.  Representatives Charlie Miller and Mary Lou Marzian, and Mayor Greg Fischer were all very supportive of further funding for National Board Certification, and encouraged us to stay in contact with them as the budget hearings ensue next year.  I really left with a positive feeling and a lot more knowledge about the inner-workings in Frankfort. I plan to stay involved myself, and have reached out to both the Kentucky Education Association and the Jefferson County Teachers Association (my union) to do so. #HouseofCardsisReal
